Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, birth date, or other term entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we may keep the message long enough to respond and maintain necessary records. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information whenever a page loads. That information can include:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- The referring site, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help us understand aggregate traffic, including popular pages and common exit points. You may block cookies through browser settings, although doing so can change how some site features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Route search requests to the selected partner service
- Operate, maintain, and improve site performance
- Find errors and diagnose technical problems
- Measure which resources visitors use
- Present advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Warrant Data on File
We do not host, maintain, compile, or sell a warrant database or personal warrant records. The site identifies official Covington County routes such as the Circuit Clerk, municipal courts, and Sheriff's Department, plus Just One Look and the Traffic Service Center. Alabama does not provide a single public statewide warrant roster. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party records.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies provide the search boxes found on some pages. A partner's own privacy policy controls information submitted through its tool, including its retention and sharing choices. We do not set those practices. Read the applicable partner policy before entering information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Covington County Sheriff's Department, Alabama court portals, municipal courts, legal resources, or third-party tools. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and tailor ads. That processing takes place under their systems and policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving content on the site
- Government or law enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will take steps to delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with the law where you live. Alabama's Open Records Law, Ala. Code §36-12-40, concerns access to government public records and does not turn this private site into a public records custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of data associated with you
- Ask what personal information we retain
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Object to certain processing where the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date, so visitors should review this page periodically.
